Itinerary Desert Tour from Casablanca

Your driving guide will welcome you at the airport and accompany you throughout your nine-day Desert Tour from Casablanca. You will drive from Casablanca to Marrakech, a bustling city known for its historic palaces, vibrant souks, and fascinating vibe. Throughout the day, visit the renowned Jemaa el-Fnaa marketplace, the beautiful Majorelle Garden, and the historic Bahia Palace. Spend the night in Marrakesh.

We will begin our day with a tour to Marrakech, which was founded by the Almoravids in the eleventh century. We highlight the Koutoubia minaret, a city emblem and true treasure of Almohad art, as well as the Saadia Tombs, the Bahia Palace, the Medina, and the famed Jemaá el Fná plaza, which is home to a plethora of sellers, acrobats, and storytellers. This rich day in your Desert Tour from Casablanca ends with a night at the hotel/riad.

We will start the second day of the Desert Tour from Casablanca from your hotel or riad in Marrakech city to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou (a world heritage site declared by UNESCO in 1987) through Tizi-Ntichka pass and the High Atlas Mountains.
After a long road, we will stop to visit Ait Ben Haddou and the film studios, where many world-famous movies like Gladiator and The Mummy were filmed. Then we continue to Ouarzazate for lunch.
In the afternoon, we’ll drive to the Oasis of Skoura (a small village), then continue to the rose city via the Valley of the Roses, and directly to Dades Gorges for dinner and overnight stay at the hotel/riad.

After a traditional breakfast, we leave the quiet town and continue the Desert Tour from Casablanca toward the desert, a great adventure leading to a desert camp. We continue the road to Tinghir, a small Berber village whose name means “shoulder” in the Berber language. Tinghir was once a military post during French colonization.

After lunch at a local café, we continue to Erfoud, the capital of marble fossils. Visit the stone factory, then continue toward the Merzouga desert, crossing rocky terrain. Once in Merzouga, camels will be waiting for you. Enjoy a camel ride over the sand dunes during sunset, take beautiful photos, and head to the desert camp. Enjoy dinner under a starry sky, traditional nomad music, and dance around the fire all night.

After an early wake-up to enjoy the beautiful sunrise and a delicious breakfast at the desert camp, your camel guide will take you back, and your driver will be waiting for you. We continue the Desert Tour from Casablanca by driving from the desert to Fes, passing through the Ziz Valley near Errachidia, the capital of the Tafilalt region. We’ll stop to take in panoramic views of the valley.

We carry on to Midelt, a city known for its apple production and mining activities. After lunch, we drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping in the cedar forests and the Berber towns of Imouzar. In the forest, observe how monkeys live freely. Visit Ifrane, also known as the Switzerland of Morocco. The name comes from the Amazigh language and means “caves.” In 2013, Ifrane was ranked the second-cleanest city in the world. Explore the outdoors and see the famous stone lion statue. The modern city was established by the French in 1929.
After Ifrane, we pass through more Berber towns before reaching Fes for an overnight stay in a hotel or riad.

After breakfast in your riad, continue your Desert Tour from Casablanca by exploring Morocco’s oldest city through its winding lanes and narrow streets. Begin with a visit to the Royal Palace gates, the Jewish Quarter, and Morocco’s first Mellah, dating back to the 14th century. Visit key landmarks including Al Qaraouine University — the oldest in the world — the Tanneries, and the Moulay Idriss Mausoleum. After lunch, explore the tile cooperative and enjoy a panoramic view of the Fes medina. Overnight at the hotel or riad.

After two nights in Fes, we continue our Desert Tour from Casablanca to Chefchaouen, passing through Meknes and Volubilis. You’ll explore Meknes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities, and visit key attractions such as Lahdim Square, the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, Bab Mansour, and Sahrij Swani (Basin Swani).
We’ll also visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis — one of the best archaeological sites in Morocco — located in a fertile agricultural region in the north. After that, we head to the blue city of Chefchaouen, where you’ll have time to explore its charming blue-painted streets.

In the morning, we head to Rabat to visit the Kasbah of Udaya, built in the 12th century by a fierce tribe of warriors. As your Desert Tour from Casablanca nears its end, we also visit the Hassan Tower, where the façades differ in color due to sea exposure. Near the tower, see the royal mausoleum before heading to Casablanca, where we’ll arrive late in the afternoon. Overnight stay in a hotel.
